Singapore’s Hidden Gem – Hotel Indigo Katong
Ever since I was a little child, I always loved to experience new things, learn new languages, meet new people and get to know more about different cultures. When I was planning my trip to Southeast Asia, I was definitely looking for places where I can escape from the typical touristic spots.
During my time in Singapore, I managed to do so and passed the places where everyone goes, and I got to stay and one really different place, namely, Hotel Indigo in Katong area. The hotel is brand new and located in one of the must-see historical neighborhoods of Singapore, lined up with old Chines houses, restaurants and stores. This hotel and its rooms are all about embedding you in the local history, culture and architecture, more than being just “another hotel”. Moreover, the rooms are built like the Chinese traditional houses in Singapore, narrow and long, but no worries there is plenty space.
What’s more, the building used to be the site of the former Joo Chiat Police Station and is inspired by the Peranakan culture, which is very unique and interesting for me.
Rooms are filled with colorful and funky furniture, even an old closet is full of antique Chinese pictures from the nearby historical houses.
One of the perks of this hotel was definitely their roof-top pool, which gives you an outstanding view over the area, and I managed to get some time just for myself. When it comes to the food, it is out of this world, so delicious and tasty. Furthermore, I was amazed by the hospitality of the staff, they really made me feel like home and I could not imagine a better customer service.
Seriously guys, if you are looking for something different, give Hotel Indigo a try, this place has so much to offer. And of course, you can get some amazing pictures in this area as well.
